About This Site
The Web-Based Training Information Center (WBTIC) is a private site,
not affiliated with any company or institution. WBTIC offers no services
and offers no products for sale, and it accepts no advertising. WBTIC
was first established online in December 1994 and has been in continuous
operation ever since.
WBTIC is the creation of Tim Kilby, who coined the terms Web-based
training (WBT) and Web-based performance support system (WBPSS)
when the Web was in its infancy. Tim's professional experience includes
technical direction, computer systems analysis, user interface design,
media production, instructional systems design, and classroom instruction.
He has been actively involved in the design and production of computer-based
training and Web-based training for over twelve years.

WBTIC is built using these technologies and standards:
 |
Web-Based Training Information Center uses ASP.NET
technology, part of the Microsoft.NET Framework. These pages are
served from Windows 2003 Servers running Internet Information Server. |
 |
The ASP.NET pages use ADO.NET connections to a Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 database. This database utilizes multiple tables
and stored procedures to publish dynamic data on selected pages. |
 |
All pages on WBTIC
are valid XHTML 1.0, as recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C). This standard is the successor of HTML 4.0. |
 |
WBTIC server-side scripts identify the user agent
(browser) and deliver a customized cascading style sheet validated
according to W3C CSS recommendations. These style sheets are specifically
designed to improve accessibility according to W3C WCAG 1.0 guidelines. |
 |
Every attempt has been made to conform to W3C Web
Accessibility Initiative's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
1.0, conformance level "Double-A". |
 |
The Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) specification
is an industry standard for privacy policies. WBTIC conforms to
this standard. |
 |
This site voluntarily conforms to Section 508 of
the Rehabilitation Act, a mandate of the United States government
Federal Acquisition Regulations. |
 |
WBTIC is built and maintained using Adobe Dreamweaver
CS3. |
